Referring to the  opposition alliance formed yesterday   by the UNP, Media Minister Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene described that effort as a  mole that came out of a mountain.

He was addressing the media at the Ministry of Information this morning and added that the grandest alliance was the one headed by the government.

He further said the UPFA had 18 main parties in its fold directly while the total number of parties that supported the UPFA stood at 33.

The minister pointed out that except for Mangala Samaraweera, all others in the opposition alliance were members of the UNP in early times.

Abeywardene dismissed the opposition  alliance threats to the government adding that after the UPFA wins the next election, partners of the UNP alliance was likely to  support the UPFA headed by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
