ImagePresident Mahinda Rajapakse is the most suited person for the post of President. A special characteristic of the President is his ability to uphold a stern opinion without bowing to international forces. This quality was amply reflected during the war period, the Minister of Mass Media and Information Anura Priyadarshana Yapa said
The Minister further adds that the President was a person with wide political experience.

He pointed out that Ranil Wickremasinghe during his regime from 2001 to 2003 brought a cabinet paper for compulsory retirement of one third of the government servants.  The aim of the Wickremasinghe government was to reduce the then workforce of state employees from 700 thousand to 400 thousand.

However, the present Government has increased the number of state employees to 1.1 million. The Minister also said although certain groups request to abolish the executive presidential system, this could not be done immediately. A two third majority of the parliament is necessary for this purpose.

He also said a further dialogue should be conducted in this regard.
