Acceptance of the Creations for the State Children’s Arts Festival- 2012

Children’s paintings are accepted from Islandwide talented children for the first round of the State children’s Arts Festival - 2012 to be held jointly by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the State Arts and the sculpture panel of the Sri Lanka Arts Council under the direction of the Ministry of Culture and the Arts. This event is sponsored by the Pan Asia Bank.
The competition is organized under following categories:-
1.Primary Competition - Age between 5 and 6 years
2. Post Primary Competition - Age between 7 and 9 years
3. Junior Competition - Age between 10 and 12 years
4. Senior Competition - Age between 13 and 15 years
5. Senior Secondary Competition - Age between 16 and 18 years
Creators could present their own creations according to their preference for the competition. Paintings should be drawn in 18” X 14” scale. using the preferred medium . On the back of the drawn painting paper name, birthday, age as at 15th May 2012, category of the competition, personal address, telephone no., District where they are residing permanently, should be written clearly in Sinhala or English medium. The creation with a certification that it is his or her own creation should be forwarded to t Secretary, State Arts and Sculpture Panel, National Art Gallery, Nelumpokuna Mawatha , Colombo 07. by post or by hand before 15th May 2012.
150 children will be selected from the first round out of creations presented by each districts under the five age categories and they will be qualified for the second round. The creators who are selected for the second round on district level will be qualified to participate in a workshop organized by the Department of Cultural Affairs and the paintings drawn at the workshop will qualify for the State Children ‘s Arts Festival – 2012.
Certificates and the Awards will be presented to the selected creators under the above categories at the Children’s Arts Festival. A unique award will be presented for one selected creation from the each age group from the whole creations.

In addition to the above awards, all the winners selected from the first round will be given certificates too.
