A Bharata Natya performance of Sandhya Bamunuwita will be staged at the auditorium of the Bishops College, Colombo at 6.30 p.m. tomorrow. This performance will be held in connection with completion of 40 years of performance by this artiste. Her maiden performance was staged in the year 1971.
Sandhya received her preliminary education at Vishaka Vidyalaya and due to insistence of her father she learnt Bharata Natya under the veteran dancer Kamala Jayatilleke. Later she also learnt dance performance from Dance Teacher Miranda Hemalatha. Sandhya has also learnt Kandyan, Manipuri and other classical dances.
Under the guidance of Mrs. Miranda Hemalatha, she also started a Dance School at Bambalapitiya in 1980.(niz)
