All arrangements have been made for the 16th Sumathi Tele Awards, the biggest festival of the country’s television industry on November 19, at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium.
Programmes televised by the National Rupavahini Corporation have been nominated for 23 out of the 26 awards of the 16th Sumathi Award festival. This is the highest number of nominations being made in respect of one media institution. These details were given at a Media Conference relating to the Awards Festival held in Colombo yesterday.
The “Ebarthu Etha” tele-drama televised by the National Rupavahini has been nominated for 10 awards. 3 programmes being nominated for the Awards relating to children’s programmes are also Rupavahini productions.
In this year’s festival 20 awards will be given for special talents. Arrangements have also been made to televise the Award Ceremony live through the Channel Eye of the Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation from 10.00 pm on the 19th. (niz)
