The World Spice Food festival 2012 which saw its launch on the 4th October is in full swing at the "Board Walk" in Battaramulla. Thousands of local and foreign food connoisseurs, professionals in the food and beverage industry, chefs and even housewives visit the festival to taste, learn and appreciate this unique culinary celebration. Secretary Defence and Urban Development Mr. Gotabaya Rajapaksa visited the event last evening.

“Sri Lanka Cultural Days” kicked off on Saturday 29th of September, at the Kuwait National Museum as part of an on-going cultural extravaganza. The event, hosted by the National Council for Culture, Arts and Letters (NCCAL), was a prelude to the upcoming First Asian Cooperation Dialogue Summit to be held in Kuwait in mid October. Number of Asian countries were invited to showcase their cultural heritage including events, products and tourism attractions.

A Japanese Cultural Exhibition will be held at the National Art Gallery, Colombo on 1stand 2nd September 2012 to mark the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Japan and Sri Lanka. The exhibition has been organized by the Embassy of Japan and the Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Sri Lanka and will feature Ikebana floral arrangements, bonsai plants, origami, as well as demonstrations of the tea ceremony, Ikebana floral art, bonsai planting and origami folding. The exhibition will also feature multimedia presentations and photographic exhibitions on Japan.
