The National Literary Festival, organized by the Ministry of Cultural & Integrity Affairs with the collaboration of North Central Provincial Council and Anuradhapura District Secretariat will be held in the historical city of Anuradhapura for 4 days from September 15-18.

This is the first time the festival is to be held out of Colombo. Simultaneously, Ministry of Cultural & Integrity Affairs has taken some promotional steps to make this festival a success.

Workshops and lectures will be held in schools, privenas and government institutions in the entire Anuradhapura District to promote publicity to this festival.

Apart from this, cultural journal publishing competition among the school children of the North Central Province, releasing of new books, honouring distinguished cultural personalities will be conducted and herbal park will be set up in the Cultural Centres simultaneously. Birthday gifts for the school children, born on September 15,16,17 & 18 in the North Central Province and dance ensemble local and foreign artistes of 2500 are also scheduled in the agenda.

His Excellency President Mahinda Rajapaksa will grace the occasion as the Chief Guest on the final day September 18, with the participation of Hon. Mahinda Yapa Abeywardhana.
