President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday (28) extended his best wishes to the Sri Lanka team about to leave for the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games in China.

President Ranapaksa at a special meeting at Temple Trees with the sportsmen and sportswomen of the Sri Lanka team for the Olympics last morning said that the Beijing Olympic scheduled to kick off in another 10 days will be an important opportunity for the Sri Lankan team to exhibit the Sri Lankan spirit to the rest of the world whilst achieving victories in the respective events they participate in.

He was confident that all our competitors will show maximum commitment and compete with determination and courage to bring credit to their motherland.
  
Minister of Sports Gamini Lokuge, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Olympic Committee Hemasiri Fernando, Secretary to the Ministry of Sports, S. Liyanagama were also present during the cordial discussion.
