The University Grants Commission (UGC) has taken steps to transfer the undergraduates studying at the Eastern University who are from other parts of the country to other universities, Chairman of UGC, Prof. Gamini Samaranayake said.
Considering the requests made by the parents and the students studying the Eastern University from other areas, and the recent killing of an undergraduate at the same university by an unknown gunman has prompted this action, Prof. Samaranayake said.
Accordingly the students will be transferred to the relevant faculties in other universities taking their “Z Socre” into consideration, he added.
The prevailing security situation will be taken into consideration in the Northern and Eastern regions prior to the admission of students to these two universities, UGC chairman further stated. |
