"LTTE killed Janaka Perera"

Expressing his views to a local newspaper over the entry of TMVP leader V. Murlitharan to parliament, Chairman of the United NationalParty, Rukman Senanayaka has said "entry of a person who had taken up arms against the State to parliamentary politics is a plus point."

While calling the rehabilitation of the former LTTE top gun a brilliant political move on the part of President Mahinda Rajapaksa, he reiterated the UNP's commitment to an outright military victory over LTTE terrorism.

During the course of the interview, Mr. Senanayake laid to rest all doubts regarding the UNP's position on who was responsible for the assassination of Maj. Gen. Janaka Perera and thirty other persons: "it was undoubtedly an LTTE job".
