Sri Lanka’s January Inflation declined to 3.8%

Sri Lanka's inflation has declined further in January. The inflation as measured by consumer prices in Colombo in January is 3.8%. This is the lowest inflation recorded for the last two years.
Data released yesterday by the Statistics Department of the Central Bank showed that the inflation has declined to 3.8 percent in January 2012 from 4.9 percent in December 2011 while the Colombo Consumer Price Index (CCPI) marginally increased by 0.3 percent to 154.8 points in January from 154.4 points in the previous month.
As per the statistics, the annual average inflation decreased marginally to 6.5 percent in January from 6.7 percent recorded in the previous month. (niz+)
