Sri Lanka gets the first Sea Plane Aerodrome

Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development declared open today (21) Sri Lanka's main seaplane aerodrome in Dandugama Oya at Seeduwa,marking a significant day for the Sri Lanka Aviation sector.

The investment for the project was undertaken by the Ministry of Economic Development while the construction was carried out by the Western Province Road Development Authority. The new seaplane aerodrome could accommodate sea and float planes on wheels and consist of a
passenger lounge  and parking facilities even to accommodate large tourist buses.

Piyankara Jayaratne, Minister of Civil Aviation, Felix Perera, Minister of Social Services, Dulip Wijesekara, Deputy Minister of Disaster Management, Sudharshani Fernandopulle, Member of Parliament, Nimal Lanza, Western Provincial council Minister and  Prasanna Wickramasuriya, Chairman of Airport and Aviation Services LTD also participated at this occasion.
