BOC accumulates assets worth One Trillion

As of 31st May, the Bank of Ceylon has accumulated assets amounting to one trillion rupees for the first time in its history. The Chairman of the Bank Gamini Wickremasinghe said that this is the first occasion in the Sri Lankan history of an institution securing assets of this magnitude.



Addressing a media conference in Colombo yesterday the BOC Chairman said it has been possible to record this achievement as a result of the dedication made by the employees and working on targets set on a realistic basis.

The Chairman also said that the benefits of the progress being achieved by the Bank will be passed on to customers and it would become a further incentive for them to increase their dealings with the Bank.

At yesterday’s Media Conference presentation of cash prizes as rewards were made to the three police officials and five youth who helped to prevent the Bank of Ceylon branch robbery in Battaramulla. In addition to this, a cash gift was presented to student Udeshika Hettiarachchi of Vishaka Vidyalaya Colombo who has obtained the highest marks at the G.C.E. Ordinary Level examination. (niz).
