Pakistan and Sri Lanka agree to consolidate cooperation in all spheres

Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf met President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapaksa on the sidelines of Asian Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Summit at Bayan Palace Kuwait City.


The Prime Minister said that the people of Pakistan recall the fond  memories of the visit of the President of Sri Lanka to Pakistan in February this year.


The Prime Minister said that Pakistan desires to further deepen economic ties between the two countries. Pakistan desires to consolidate the cooperation in all spheres including trade, education, health and culture, he added.


Raja Pervez Ashraf expressed the hope that the modalities for utilization of credit line of US$ 200 million will be finalized soon.


The President of Sri Lanka said that his country values Pakistan's support and hoped that Pakistani private sector would invest in Sri Lanka after the restoration of peace there.


The Sri Lankan President said that his country wants to further strengthen relations with Pakistan. There was a great scope and potential for expanding and further strengthening the existing relations between the two countries, he added.


Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Malik Amad Khan and Pakistan Ambassador in Kuwait, Iftekhar Aziz were also present in the meeting.
