He made these observations at the Final Review Meeting of the KOSTAT project 2015 under the theme of "Strengthening the Statistical Capacity of the Department of Census and Statistics of Sri Lanka",  held at the JAIC Hilton hotel in Colombo 02 recently.

It was organized by the Department of Census and Statistics (DCS) with the objective of sharing and disseminating the process and results of the KOSTAT Project 2015 and receiving the comments and feedback.

The Korea Institute for Development Strategy (KDS) has designed the project in collaboration with DCS Sri Lanka under the patronage of the Statistics Korea (KOSTAT). The KOSTAT Project  duration is three years. The KDS takes in charge of management and implementation of its 2nd year from April to November 2015 and 3rd year in 2016.

The Project contents include 2 education trainings on SNA and Sampling in Sri Lanka, and 4 education trainings in Korea, as well as providing equipment for two computer lecture classrooms and advanced Statistical software to DCS. This Project has designed to enhance the cooperation between Korea and Sri Lanka, and strengthen sustainable statistical capacity for Sri Lankan Governmental officials of DCS and establish of IT infrastructure in Sri Lanka for an advanced national statistical system.

Ambassador of the Republic of Korea in Sri Lanka  Won-sam Chong, the Director of the KOSTAT Kido Seong, and a distinguished gathering  from the  Korean Embassy KOSTAT, DCS, KDS and KOICA  were present.
