    August 25, 2016

Stocks of sub standard food wrappers found at manufacturing facilities in Hokandara and Ratmalana have been confiscated by officials of the Consumer Affairs Authority (CAA).

All these wrappers were of low quality polythene below 20 microns. At Hokandara 510 bundles containing 1000 wrappers each were seized while at Ratmalana 410 bundles of 1000 wrappers each were seized. The manufacturer had issued the products under a false business name, address and registration number.

The above manufacturer will be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate on 29th on charges of marketing information, misguiding the consumer and manufacturing and preparing for sale polythene in violation of the above regulation.
