The foundation stone was laid for the proposed slipway in Kayts Island on Friday (2nd Dec.) by the Commander Northern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Piyal De Silva.
The construction work on the slipway got underway following the directives of Commander of the Navy, Vice Admiral Ravindra Wijegunaratne.
Divisional Secretary of Kayts, Mrs. E. Anton Yoganayagam, also participated. Once the slipway is completed, the boat owners in the island sector will be able to carry out repair work on their boats conveniently.
