Ready to pay for power generators – Dep. Minister

    January 11, 2017

There is a severe drought at present but we will not cut the power, said Deputy Minister of Power and Renewable Energy Ajith Perera.

This time the power generation capacity at hydro power plants has reduced to 35% due to the drought while in other years during this time it is 95%.

We have switched on the coal power plants also to face the drought. He said that anybody contributing power to the national grid will be paid Rs 36.50 per unit of electricity and the minister requested the public to use electricity with care.

He said that if there are power cuts we will inform the people but at present there is no need.
