    Army Opened New Outdoor Volley Ball Court & Complex with Museum

    The new volleyball court and the museum built in the 21 Divisional Headquarters premises of the Security Force Headquarters-Wanni (SFHQ-W) were opened recently during a ceremony, headed by Major General Boniface Perera, Commander, SFHQ-W.

    Construction of a volleyball court in each Division was a proposal, made by Major General Boniface Perera, Chairman, Sri Lanka Army Volleyball Committee.

     

    The newly-constructed volleyball complex consists of the volleyball court and a museum where historic details of Volleyball have been kept on display. The ceremony kicked off with a demonstration of Ritigala Angam martial arts and a few dancing items.

     

    An exhibition volleyball match was played between Sri Lanka Navy Women’s Volleyball team and the Sri Lanka Army Women’s Volleyball team as the inaugural event. Finally, both Army and Navy teams received trophies and certificates from the day’s Chief Guest at the end of the event.

     

    Major General P.U.S Vithanage, Commander, Security Force Headquarters-Mullaittivu (SFHQ-MLT) together with General Officers Commanding, Brigade Commanders, Senior Officers, officers, other rankers and students from nearby schools attended the event.
