UNP demotes Dayasiri Jayasekera

Sources from the United National Party said that the Kurunegala District Parliamentarian Dayasiri Jayasekara has been removed from the post of the Deputy Chief Whip of the Opposition and the Kalutara district Parliamentarian Ajith P.Perera has been appointed as the Deputy Chief Whip of the Opposition. Ajith P. Perera is the Bandaragama Electoral Organizer of the United National Party.
Meanwhile, UNP sources also said that the leader of the United National Party Ranil Wickremasinghe has decided to cancel the electoral organizer posts of four UNP parliamentarians since they attempted to create divisions in the party by criticizing the party leadership. The sources revealed that the organizer posts of Dayasiri Jayasekara for Panduwas Nuwara, Sujeewa Senasinghe for Kaduwela, Buddika Pathirana for Akuressa and Ashoka Abeysinghe for Kurunegala will be cancelled accordingly.
UNP sources also said that another four electoral organizers who are not represented in the Parliament have also been critical of the party leadership, and their organizer posts will also be cancelled.(niz)
