UNP Convention before end of March

The annual convention of the United National Party is to be held within three months. UNP General Secretary Tissa Attanayake told a Media Conference yesterday that the convention will be held before the end of March.
He said the party seniors want to hold the convention at the party headquarters, Sirikotha and renovations to Sirikotha that was damaged last month have to be completed before holding the convention at the party headquarters.
The UNP convention is to officially ratify the appointments last month’s new office bearers.
Attanayake also said that the Party will now work together according to an agenda and will adhere to the Code of Ethics approved at the last Working Committee meeting. He said that there is a programme being implemented for ensuring security of the party headquarters and to renovate it.
The UNP General Secretary further said that the working committee has empowered the Leader of the party to express opinion about the LLRC report. He said that after discussions in the Parliamentary and Advisory Committes, the party Leader Mr. Ranil Wickremasinghe will express the party views about the LLRC report. (niz).
