The rift between United National Party’s Kurunegala District MP Dayasiri Jayasekara and the party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe has got escalated. In the latest round the Party leader Ranil Wickremasinghe, probably being intolerable of accusations being made by the Kurunegala MP has called for an urgent report on various statements made by him to the media recently.
Wickremesinghe has called for a report from the General Secretary of the Party, Tissa Attanayake saying that he has received several complaints from the party members and supporters about Jayaseker’s blasphemous accusations and has also requested Attanayake to obtain the assistance of the party’s legal secretary as well.
MP Dayasiri quashed rumours about his crossing over to the government, told the media recently that such a canard was being spread by the ‘Media Mafia’ of UNP and Opposition Leader Ranil Wickremasinghe’s media unit.
He claimed that Wickremasinghe’s media unit has control over certain private media establishments and websites. He also said that ‘blue eyed boys’ close to Ranil sling mud at him to damage his political career and popularity.
Speaking further MP Dayasiri said that ‘Media Mafia’ of Ranil who spread the story that he was to cross over to the government, in Parliament and even gave an auspicious time of the crossing over. (niz)
