PC Elections is a cakewalk for the government

Elections in the North Central and Sabaragamuwa will be a cake walk for the government while in the Eastern Province the government will form the administration with the affiliated parties.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister for Economic Development Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene addressing a media conference at the Government Information Department auditorium this morning.

The Minister said that in the two provinces of North Central and Sabaragamuwa there is no opposition to the government at all and the existence and the campaign of the opposition parties are not visible in the areas.  He said that in addition to this the people of these two provinces are highly appreciative of the government for the immense work being done in the areas which were totally neglected by the previous governments.

The Minister said that in the case of the Eastern Province there is no contest with the opposition parties but there is some contest with the affiliated parties of the government which are contesting separately.  He said that however, the government will form the administration in the Eastern Province as well, either alone or with the affiliated parties of the government.
