PC Polls: Postal Voting on Aug. 27 & 28

The days for marking of postal voters at the Eastern, North Central and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council Elections have bee fixed for 27th and 28th Aguust stated a media release issued by the Commissioner of Elections.


In the media release the Election Commissioner has requested  the Certifying Officers if any insured postal packets pertaining to the applications certified by Certifying Officer, and the acceptance of which have been allowed, have not been received by now, to immediately check and inquire from the relevant District Deputy/Senior Assistant/Assistant Commissioner of Elections regarding non receipt of the packets.

 

The date and time that the postal voters should arrive at the office of the Certifying Officer to mark their ballot papers should be intimated to the voters taking into consideration the number of insured packets he has received.

 

It is compulsory that the voters should bring with them their National Identity Card or other identity document announced by the Department of Elections.  The media release further states that the Certifying Officers have also been made aware on the acceptance of valid official identity cards.
