The ever grateful people of the North Central Province have expressed that they are solidly behind President Mahinda Rajapaksa despite all efforts made by the United National Party to politicize the droughts and shed crocodile tears on behalf of the drought affected farmers. By giving 19 out of the 33 seats of the North Central Province to the United People's Freedom Alliance they have reminded the United National Party that they have not forgotten the atrocities they underwent during the UNP regime by allowing the tiger terrorist to massacre several hundred people in the Province under the terrorist appeasement policy adopted by UNP and the facilities provided to tiger terrorists under the infamous Ceasefire Agreement.
The UPFA has gained 19 seats in the province which included 13 members from the Anuradhapura District and 6 members from the Polonnaruwa district.
The UNP was able to gain only 11 seats which included 7 members from the Anuradhapura district and 4 members from the Polonnaruwa district.
The JVP which also politicized the drought situation and shed crocodile tears for the drought affected farmers was able to gain only one seat and this sole member has been elected from the Anuradhapura district. (niz)
