MLAM Hizbullah assumed duties as the new Deputy Minister to the Economic Development ministry last Friday(08th) morning at his office in Colombo.
New Deputy Minister Economic Development MLAM Hizbullah who arrived in the Colombo office to assume duties was warmly welcomed by senior staff members in the Economic Development ministry. A religious observation was held to invoke blessing to the newly appointed Econ. Deputy Minister before he assumed duties.
The Economic Development Minister Basil Rajapaksa, Child Development and Women's Affairs Minister Tissa Karaliyadda, Rishad Badiudeen, Minister of Industry and Commerce, Deputy Minister Susantha Punchinilame present. Those present included those from his new Ministry, his electorate, Economic Development ministry additional Secretary Hema Dhamawardana and its senior staff members.
MLAM Hizbullah first elected for Batticaloa district in 1989 as the youngest parliamentarian in Sri Lankan Government at that time. Thereafter in 1994 and 2001 he was elected again as a member of parliament from Betticaloa district. In his long political carrier he has held many important positions prior to his present position. These are provincial Minister Health, Social Service, information Technology Education and Sports for Eastern provincial council of Sri Lanka, Deputy Minister of posts and Telecommunication and the Media, Child Development and Women's Affairs Ministry. Hizbullah pursued his higher education in University for peradeniya and obtained Masters of Arts from University of Madras.
