Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) has spent over Rs. 170 million for the presidential election campaign of the former president Mahinda Rajapaksa, the Minister of Foreign Employment Thalatha Athukorala revealed in parliament yesterday.
Responding to a question raised by JVP MP Sunil Handunneththi, the Minister breaking down the expenses said the SLBFE has spent Rs. 140 million on advertising for the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) Presidential election candidate.
In addition Rs. 9.1 million has been spent on election rallies, 3.5 million rupees on religious activities and 20 million rupees on paying building taxes.
