    Japan offers to introduce modern Japanese technology to Sri Lanka

    The Government of Japan has expressed willingness to introduce the concept of My Number system in Japan, which increases the efficiency of the Japanese people’s day-to- day life, to Sri Lanka.

    This was revealed when the visiting Senior Japanese Parliamentary member, Fukuda Sensai held discussions with President Maithripala Sirisena at the President’s Official Residence.

     

    Under the My Number system, by using the modern technology an electronic card will be issued to each and every person which has all the information of the card holder in addition to that the card holder can use this electronic card for day to day financial and other transactions.

     

    During the discussions the President said that he will take steps immediately to find out the possibility of introducing this system in Sri Lanka after consultations with the relevant authorities.

     

    The President further said that when he visited Japan for an official visit he was very impressed by seeing the Japanese technology and he also expressed his gratitude to the Government of Japan for taking a decision to introduce modern Japanese technology to Sri Lanka.

     

    President Sirisena recalled the invitation extended by the Prime Minister of Japan, Shinzō Abe to visit Japan to see the Olympic which is to be held in Japan and the visiting Japanese MP Fukuda Sensai also extended an invitation to the President to visit Japan.

     

    The Ambassador of Japan, Kenichi Suganuma also participated in this discussion.
