    Appointments to 538 Graduates Featured

    The attention of the outside world has been drawn to our country's achievements like the construction of the massive road network, new harbours and airports. Therefore while being proud of our achievements, we should be ready to identify the strength of the country, said President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

    The President was speaking at a ceremony held to grant letters of appointment to 538 Graduates  of the National Savings Bank (NSB) and Public Administration Ministry as Gtadiate Trainees.  190 graduate trainees have been recruited to the National Savings Bank while 348 Technical Assistants have been recruited to District and Divisional Secretariats.

     

    He also said though we were a dependent nation in the recent past, with the elimination of terrorism we are now self sufficient in food. Sri Lankan President pointing out that our country is on the path to rapid developmentm said still some people do not appreciate the country's achievements. They talk about Singapore, UK or France  when Sri Lanka has become a peaceful country with proud history and rich culture.

     

    President Mahinda Rajapaksa further said that former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez pointing to Sri Lanka on the world map told him that it is Sri Lanka that could balance the world. This is ​the ​world's view on Sri Lanka said the President.

     

    The President requested the new recruits to commit themselves to do a honest service to the nation with dedication thereby contributing to country's development process,

     

    Public Administration and Home Affairs Minister W. D. J. Seneviratne, International Monetary Cooperation Senior Minister and Finance and Planing Deputy Minister Sarath Amunugama, Public Administration and Home Affairs Deputy Minister Vijaya Dahanayake and NSB Chairman W. A. Nalini also were present on the occasion.​(KH/SI)
