    President stresses on the need for financial discipline for country’s prosperity Featured

    President Maithripala Sirisena was the Chief Guest at the Global Management Accounting Summit organized under the patronage of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka yesterday.

     
    The CMA Global Management Accounting Summit on the theme ‘Business Resilience through Integrated Reporting’ commenced on Monday (27) at Cinnamon Lakeside Hotel and will be held until July 29.
     
     
    President of CMA Prof.Lakshman R.Watawela chaired the Summit.
     
     
    President Sirisena during his address noted that during the previous regime financial discipline related to tender procedures deteriorated with the appointment of qualified persons as well as businessman to fill Secretaries posts in the Ministries. 
     
     
    However, President Sirisena stressed the need for financial discipline for country’s prosperity and that it would be the priority of the government after elections. 
     
     
    Canadian High Commissioner Shelly Whiting and IFAC President Olivia Kirtlay were also present. 
     
     
    The Global Management Accounting Summit 2015 features a total of 21 speakers and panelists who will share a wealth of experience from the UK, USA, South Africa, Singapore, Malaysia, Dubai, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka.
     
     
    The International Federation of Accountants is the global organisation for the accounting profession and comprises 175 members and associates in 130 countries and jurisdictions representing 2.5 million accountants in public practice, education, government, industry and commerce. Sri Lanka has two members the Institute of Certified Management Accountants of Sri Lanka, Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and Associate Member AAT Sri Lanka.
