Several thousands of patriotic Sri Lankan expatriates living in Britain, France, Germany, Switzerland, Norway and other European countries gathered in Geneva yesterday and held protest demonstrations against the United Nations for its bias attitude against Sri Lanka, and against the Western Nations for their double standards on terrorism. The protest demonstrations were held from 8.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m.
The protesters travelled from all over the Europe to converge in Geneva and included Sri Lankans of all ethnicities including Tamils and Muslims.
Reports said that the activists in unanimous voice urged the UN not to meddle and hinder in Sri Lanka's development and reconciliation at a time Sri Lanka is trying to rebuild, after eliminating the three-decade long terrorism from the country.
The demonstrators also presented a petition signed by several thousands of Sri Lankans residents in Europe to the UNHRC Office against the report of the UN's three-member Expert Panel chaired by Marzuki Darusman of Indonesia and the Britain's Channel 4.(niz).
