Performing Arts Act to enhance tele drama quality

The Cabinet at its meeting held on March 21, has decided to introduce a Performing Arts Act in order to enhance the quality of Sri Lanka's tele dramas.

The decision has been arrived at, after taking into consideration a joint proposal made by Minister of Culture and the Arts T.B. Ekanayaka and the Actg Minister of Mass Media and Information Lakshman Yapa Abeywardene.

Dramas broadcast / telecast by electronic media channels will be brought under this proposed act with the concurrence of the Tele drama Producing Association.
