Sri Lanka government has taken measures to revive the cultural heritages and artistic skills of Tamils which were suppressed by LTTE terrorists.
The Minister of Cultural Affairs T.B.Ekanayake who made a tour in the Northern Province recently said that the government will extend all assistance to create artistic creations of artistes in the North and protect their identity.
The Minister participated in several ceremonies and events connected to arts and culture in Jaffna. Financial assistance was provided for veteran artistes in the North at a ceremony held at Jaffna District Secretariat. The Minister opened an Arts and Sculpture exhibition at Jaffna Hindu College.
Tiger terrorists did not allow the people in the north to make any artistic creations except the Eelam concept at that time. After the defeat of the terrorists, the government has established the freedom for artistes in the North to continue their artistic creations. They are now organizing Art exhibitions in Jaffna, Kilinochchi, and Mullaitivu areas. (niz+)
