Free Electricity Bonanza

A special programme for domestic electricity consumers under the National Programme 'Today for Tomorrow' was launched by the Power and Energy Ministry in collaboration with the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) and Lanka Electricity Company (LECO). The entire domestic electricity consumers in Sri Lanka totaling 4.6 million could participate in this programme.
Consumers who reduce their electricity bills by 10% in April, May and June against March bill will receive a 50 percent discount. Those who have reduced by 20% compared to March electricity bill will be eligible to have free electricity for one month. This programme has come into effect from April 1.
One thousand winners in the first category and 5,000 winners in the second category will be eligible for this free electricity bonanza and lucky bills will be selected by a draw. Anyone can register by sending an SMS. CEB consumers should type L - CEB Acct. No. (10 digits) and send the SMS it to 0114 338338. LECO consumers should type their SMS ecs - LECO Account No. (10 digits) and send to 071-4643643.
