Launching of “Let us save our Harbours” on Tuesday

The Fisheries Corporation program titled “Let us save our Harbours” (Ape Varaya Api Rekaganimu) was launched a little while ago from the Mirissa Fisheries Harbour. Under this program all fishery harbours in the country will be renovated to international standards and all material and facilities required by the fishermen including fuel will be made available within the harbour premises itself. In addition, the harbour premises will be maintained as environmental friendly areas
The programme was launched on Tuesday by the Minister of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dr. Rajitha Senaratne. Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Yapa Abeywardene, Parliamentarians and peoples representatives of Matara District were also present at this occasion. (niz)
