Seychelles Foreign Minister in Sri Lanka

The Seychelles Foreign Minister Jean Paul Adam arrived in Sri Lanka on Thursday, on a two-day official visit at the invitation of the Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris.


The Secretary to the External Affairs Ministry Karunaratne Amunugama received the visiting foreign Minister at the Bandaranaike International Airport in Katunayake on arrival.


During the visit, the Seychelles Foreign Minister is to hold bilateral talks with the External Affairs Minister to discuss issues of mutual interest with a view to further enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries.


Visiting Minister is also scheduled to meet Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa, Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Development Dr. Rajitha Senaratne and Minister of Industries and Commerce Rishad Bathiudeen and discuss the possibilities of promoting bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, economic and fisheries sectors.


Minister Adam's visit is the first high level visit from Seychelles in the recent years.


Seychelles and Sri Lanka have been working very closely as Members of the Indian Ocean Rim Association for Regional Cooperation and as members of the Commonwealth Group.
