Focus Sri Lanka publication launched by SL mission in US

The Embassy of Sri Lanka, in Washington DC launched Focus Sri Lanka, a quarterly publication of the Embassy of Sri Lanka devoted to trade, investment and economic relationships between Sri Lanka and the US. The first copy was presented to Hon. Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Senior Minister of International Monetary Cooperation, Hon. Susil Premajayanth, Minister of Petroleum Industries, Mr. Ajith Nivard Cabraal, Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, and Dr. Alysa Ayres, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asian Affairs, Mr. Thomas Devenport, Regional Director IFC, and Mrs. Diarietou Gaye, Country Director for Sri Lanka and Maldives, World Bank by Jaliya Wickramasuriya, Sri Lankan Ambassador to USA in Washington DC.

The launch was held at the Sri Lanka Residence during a dinner reception hosted by the Sri Lankan Ambassador in honor of the visiting Sri Lanka delegation to the IMF/World bank Spring Meetings amidst a distinguished gathering of senior US and Sri Lankan officials. The “Focus Sri Lanka” magazine, a brainchild of Ambassador Wickramasuriya, fills a long felt need for such an economic publication to highlight Sri Lanka’s current economic and political developments and growing trade and economic partnership between Sri Lanka and the US.

The comprehensive contents include messages from His Excellency Mahinda Rajapaksa, President of Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan Foreign Minister Hon. Prof. G.L. Peiris , interviews with Governor Central Bank Mr. Ajith Nivad Cabraal, Heads of Government Promotional Agencies and Sri Lankan corporate leaders.

Senior Minister Dr. Sarath Amunugama , Chief Guest at this Launching Ceremony thanked Ambassador Wickramasuriya for this timely initiative and expressed his best wishes to Focus Sri Lanka” that will continue to focus on emerging trade and investment opportunities between Sri Lanka and the US.
