SLAF Diyathalawa Agro Project wins award

The Agro project at SLAF Diaythalawa emerged as the first at  the ‘Home Gardening and Landscaping contest in the category of “Government Establishments” organized by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, Environment and Tourism of the Uva Provincial Council. The award was presented by  the Governor of the Uva Province Nanda Mathew at the “Vasantha Udanaya 2012” Carnival which  was held at Bandarawela Esplanade recently.

The Agro project of SLAF Diyatalawa produces Yoghurt, Mushrooms, Vegetables and Flowers. The secret behind the success of the project is the quality of the produce. Constant checking, careful treatment, application of the correct technical knowledge and a proper management system is what  the Commanding Officer of Diyatalawa, Gp Capt Janaka Amerasinghe acknowledges as being the ingredients of sucess.

Sqn Ldr UR Weliwita, Sqn Ldr MADAP Perera and Flight Sergeant Weerasekara; who hold the collective responsibilities of the Station Agro project, and their team of able airmen, airwomen and civilians have contributed to the  success of the Agro project.
