British High Commissioner impressed with Sri Lanka tea production.

British High Commissioner in Sri Lanka John Rankin has said that the rich quality of Sri Lanka Tea will continue to ensure demand.  He has made these comments after concluding a two-day official visit to the Hill Country.

 

The High Commissioner has said that he used the opportunity to visit the Court Lodge Tea factory in Kandapola, run by UK-owned Finlays, and visited some of the houses of the estate workers.

 

Commenting at the end of his visit the High Commissioner has said that he was very pleased to have visited this beautiful part of the country, and the Central Region is one of mixed ethic representation, where communities co-exist together.

 

He has said that consumers in Britain recognize the quality of Sri Lankan tea and many tourists visiting the country want to see how and where their morning beverage is made. The High Commissioner has commended the eco-friendly manner in which Sri Lankan factories produces its Tea.  He has said that there is huge potential for tourism in the hill country, especially in the Tea Estate areas.(niz)
