Sri Lanka President in Thailand on a 3 day official visit

President Mahinda Rajapaksa was welcomed by Thai Deputy Prime Minister when he arrived in Suwarnabhumi airport today, starting a three day official visit to Thailand.
The President is scheduled to have a royal audience with Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn tomorrow morning at the Srapathum Palace. The Princess will host a dinner in honor of the President.
He willalso meet Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra tomorrow and exchange views on bilateral relations, as well as on regional and multilateral issues. Prime Minister Shinawatra will host a luncheon in honor of the President.
During President's visit to Thailand External Affairs Ministry of Sri Lanka and the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Thailand will sign a Memorandum of Understanding on "Bilateral Political Consultations and Exchanging of the Instruments of Ratification for the Treaty between Thailandand Sri Lanka on Mutual Legal Assistance in Criminal Matters."
The President is also scheduled to attend the opening ceremony on the Day of Vesak Celebration in Ayutthaya Province on Thursday (May 31) at an invitation of the Organizing Committee of Vesak chaired by Thai Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Yongyoot Wichaidit,.
He will deliver a speech on 'Buddha's enlightenment for the well- being of humanity' on Saturday June 2 at the celebration of the Buddha Jayanthi.
The President will also attend a Business Forum and a Business luncheon with Thai and Sri Lankan business leaders. (niz)
