Marina Tharmaratnam joins DVB Board

DFCC Vardhana Bank has announced the appointment of Marina Tharmaratnam as an Independent Non-Executive Director of the Bank’s Board effective from May 26 and has received the approval of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.

Tharmaratnam is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka and a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing of UK. She has held many top senior managerial positions at a number of high profile companies in Sri Lanka, including Eagle Insurance Company Ltd., DFCC Bank. She has functioned as the CEO/Director of Union Assurance PLC from 2003 to 2009 and has continued as a member of Union Assurance’s Board of Directors until December 2010.

DVB has also announced the retirement of S. Nagarajah from its Board of Directors. This retirement is due the Banking Act, which demands that the tenure of a director of a licensed commercial bank cannot exceed nine years. Due to this, . Nagarajah had not appearedr for a re-election at the Bank’s AGM held recently.
