A director of London based Channel-4 TV station, Stuart Cosgrove, who has entered Sri Lanka last Sunday despite being blacklisted has been deported yesterday. The Immigration and Emigration Controller General Chulananda Perera has confirmed this deportation.
Meanwhile Cosgrave’s Jaffna born Tamil wife Shirani Sabaratnam, an editor and a presenter at Channel-4, has been denied entry to the country when she arrived at the Katunayake International Airport last Sunday. She has also been blacklisted due to her close links and involvement with the Tiger Terrorists.
Channel 4 had been carrying out a concerted drive to discredit and defame Sri Lanka by producing doctored video clips which included the film called “Killing Fields”. Channel 4 staff including the producer of the doctored film “Killing Fields” were in Geneva during the last UNHRC sessions making every effort to canvass UNHRC member countries against Sri Lanka.(niz)
