Japanese twin sisters grabbed 1-2 position in the first final of the 15th Asian Junior Athletics Championship commenced at the newly build blue running track at Sugathadasa National Stadium.
The 15th Asian Junior Athletic Championships was declared open in Colombo by Sri Lankan Prime Minister Saturday evening.
Haruka Kyuma beat Youth Olmypic Games 3000m silver medalist twin sister Moe Kyuma to register first major win over her sister. Haruka maintained lead from start to finish while Moe Kyuma kept following closely till end but could not produce definitative kick towards finish line. Haruka clocked 16:07.74sec while Moe timed 16:08.17s. North Korea runner Kim Hyr Gyeeg finished on the third place in 16:32.02sec.
