Opening of the Emirates Lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake.

emirates 1The Emirates Airlines has opened  passenger lounge at Sri Lanka's International Airport  for the exclusive use of Emirates First Class and Business Class passengers, and Gold Members of Skywards.


Mr.Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development who is also in-charge of the subject of tourism declared open this new lounge at the Bandaranaike International Airport, Katunayake today (15)


It was furnished and equipped by Emirates with an investment of Rs 200 million. Designed, equipped and furnished to the exacting specifications developed for Emirates lounges at 30 other major international airports around the world, the 5,778-square-foot Emirates Lounge at the BIA can accommodate up to 118 passengers in comfort.

 

Emirates operates 14 direct flights a week from Colombo to Dubai, seven flights via Male to Dubai and daily flights from Colombo to Singapore, offering First, Business and Economy Class services. The Emirates global network now comprises 121 destinations.

 

Priyankara Jayaratne - Minister of Civil Aviation, Mr. Prasanna Wickremasuriya - Chairman Airport & Aviation, Mr Tim Clark - President, Emirates Airline, Mr Mohammed Mattar - Emirates Divisional Senior Vice President Airport Services, Mahmood Momammed Al-Mahmood - UAE Ambassador and Mr. Chandana De Silva, Country Manager Sri Lanka and Maldives at Emirates also participated at this occasion.
