Defense and Urban Development Ministry Gotabaya Rajapaksa yesterday urged youth to pursue higher education and gear themselves to take the country forward.
He made this appeal during his address after opening the Future Minds 2012 Exhibition at the BMICH.
The Defense Secretary said that failure to enter local universities should not be considered as a barrier anymore since there are so many other opportunities available for students to pursue higher education. He said that the young people must position themselves to take up future targets in order to take the country forward.
Future Minds 2012, a national educational and career exhibition was held for the seventh consecutive year, aiming to educate the Sri Lankan student population on how to choose a desired career path and also to act as a single platform where all local and foreign higher educational providers can gather and meet students who are keen in pursuing their higher education in affiliated foreign universities, both locally and internationally.
The Exhibition was an ideal opportunity for parents to get to know how their children could face the future by making the correct decisions concerning their higher education.
Over 175 educational service providers representing diverse fields of education were present at the exhibition from various countries, mainly from New Zealand, Canada, Australia, United Kingdom, USA and India. There were over 200 exhibition stalls from the local and foreign, public and private educational institutions.
