Permanent Employment assured to Graduate Trainees

The Government is to provide permanent employment to the 30,000 graduates who have been recruited as Trainees and who are undergoing training at present in various Departments, Projects, and Government Institutions.
This assurance was given by the Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Ranjith Siyambalapitiya participating in the Sri Lanka Independent Graduates Union conference held in Colombo.
Speaking in the function, the Minister said that it is the present government that provided the highest number of employments to graduates in the history of Sri Lanka. He said that in the year 2005, the government enrolled 45,000 graduates to strengthen the Government service. Subsequently, in the year 2007 another 2094 graduates were enrolled to the government service under the “Tharuna Aruna” programme. He said a further 3,184 graduates were provided employment as Aesthetic Teachers. 266 Ayurveda Graduates were also recruited to the government service.
Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa addressing the conference said that the government is dedicated and committed to provide free education to all youth. (niz)
