US Ambassasor visits Coca-Cola Plant in Sri Lanka

Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited (CCBSL) welcomed Patricia A. Butenis, U.S. Ambassador to Sri Lanka and Maldives on her visit to the Coca-Cola plant in Biyagama. The Country Manager for Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Limited - Saumindra Bhattarcharya was present.

Saumindra Bhattacharya, Country Manager, Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka Ltd, said, “Coca-Cola is delighted to host Ambassador Butenis and to share with the initiatives by Coca-Cola towards environment and sustainability. As a leading player of the beverage industry, which has strong forward and backward linkages, we are playing a role in catalyzing economic growth and development in the country. We feel privileged to be able to offer great tasting, high quality beverages to our consumers every day and we were delighted with the ambassador’s interest in product quality and technology.”


During the visit to the bottling plant, the Ambassador was briefed about the Green initiatives that have been initiated by Coca-Cola. The company has been focused on providing water efficiency and reducing carbon emissions within its operations. Coca-Cola Beverages Sri Lanka’s initiatives towards climate protection, water recycling, sustainable packaging, and efficiency in energy usage were brought to the notice of the Ambassador.


The Ambassador also took a tour of the bottling plant including the Waste Water Treatment Plant and the Water Purification Plant. The US Ambassador spent some time reviewing the ‘green’ standards at the plant that have been implemented by the company.


The Ambassador also interacted with the staff at the Plant and encouraged them to continuously strive for excellence in their areas of work.
