Indian National Security Advisor Shiv Shankar Menon who arrived in Colombo last night met President Mahinda Rajapaksa this morning. Menon is accompanied by the Joint Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla.
Menon, a former High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, is expected to follow up on the issues President Mahinda Rajapaksa and Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh discussed at the Rio+20 summit in Brazil last week.
Among the topics he was expected to discuss with the President included resettlement of the remaining IDPs, reconciliation process and the progress of India-funded development projects implemented in the Northern and Eastern provinces and the India-funded Sampur power plant in the East..
Menon is also scheduled to meet Defence Secretary Gotabhaya Rajapaksa before returning to India today. (niz)
