The leader of DMK M. Karunanidhi said the demand for Eelam will not be part of the agenda at the conference of Tamil Eelam Supporters Organisation (TESO) in Chennai on August 12, the Times of India reported.
"It's different to have an opinion on a separate Eelam, but we don't intend to put it up as a topic for discussion at the conference and create any confusion," Karunanidhi told reporters a day after meeting with Union Home Minister of India P. Chidambaram.
The DMK chief said the conference was called to discuss various solutions to the problems faced by Tamils in Sri Lanka and ensure a livelihood for them.
The Times of India reported on Monday that Minister Chidambaram conveyed to Karunanidhi the UPA government's displeasure over the Eelam demand being included in the conference.
