World's largest Gemstone Buddha Statue on exposition in Sri Lanka

The Pedi Vishva Shanthi Buddha Statue which is being taken all over the world for exposition invoking blessings for world peace will be brought to Sri Lanka this month. The President’s Office and the All Island Buddhist Association have jointly made arrangements to bring this Holy Statue to Sri Lanka.
This statue considered as the world’s biggest Buddha statue built of gem stones is 2.7 meters in height and weighs four tons. It has been sculpted in a rare green coloured gemstone called polar pride obtained from Vancouver, Canada. It is estimated that this statue is worth about 650 million rupees. Already the statue was taken for exposition in Vietnam, Australia, the United States, Germany, England, Singapore, Taiwan, China and Thailand. and will be taken round Asian countries this year.
The statue will be first brought to Temple Trees on the 7th and will be kept until the 9th of this month and will be taken to BMICH premises for public homage from 10th to 19th of this month.
